Shotgun Foot Injury

An extremely injured foot due to a close-range firearm (a shotgun wound).

Notice how the Achilles tendon is still present partially intact! External fixation is applied by placing pins or screws into the bone to immobilize and protect the foot until it is safe for surgery to be performed!
